CAMKalm App - Coming Soon...
Overview
CAMKalm™ is an emotional-regulation support tool currently in development. It was created in response to a mother’s experience supporting her child, who lives with CAMK2, a rare neurodevelopment genetic disease. Witnessing her child’s struggles with escalating dysregulation, misunderstanding, and years of under-testing revealed the broader need for early, individualized emotional-regulation cues and improved awareness of rare genetic conditions. CAMKalm™ is designed for individuals who benefit from structured support during rising stress and early emotional activation.
Interception and Self-Awareness
Interception—the ability to notice internal body cues such as increasing heart rate, tension, or rising agitation—is central to CAMKalm™. Research shows that stronger interoceptive awareness supports more effective emotional regulation. CAMKalm™ is being designed to help individuals identify early internal activation and respond with simple, personalized cues. Over time, this may support greater emotional resilience, therapeutic engagement, and long-term self-regulation.
Phase 1 — Caregiver/User-Initiated Support (Core MVP)
Phase 1 allows caregivers or the individual to send calming cues to an iPhone or Apple Watch at the earliest signs of stress. CAMKalm™ will include preset cues (examples only) such as calming images, grounding sounds, humor-based content, simple micro-games, awareness prompts (for example: “Check in with your body”), and coping reminders (for example: “Try one slow breath”). These are examples only. Personalization is central: caregivers or users can upload their own photos, videos, audio clips, scripts, therapist strategies, sensory-friendly tools, and individualized coping cues tailored to the person’s needs.
Therapeutic and Research Potential
With appropriate safeguards and consent, CAMKalm™ may offer meaningful data to therapists and
researchers. Individuals who struggle with traditional testing or self-report during dysregulation may
benefit from objective information on timing, patterns, and responses to cues. Over time, ethically
handled and anonymized data could inform personalized therapeutic strategies and accelerate rare
disease research, especially CAMK2—where treatment possibilities exist but require funding to
advance.
Awareness of Rare Genetic Disease
CAMKalm™ integrates educational content about rare neurodevelopmental genetic diseases such as
CAMK2. Many individuals are significantly under-tested and under-diagnosed, which can lead to misunderstanding, stigma, and years of inappropriate interventions. By outlining when genetic evaluation may be appropriate, CAMKalm™ aims to empower families and professionals to recognize possible neurogenetic factors and pursue informed discussions with clinicians. The app also supports fundraising for CAMK2 research, where promising treatments are on the horizon but require funding to move forward.
About Limitless Pathways
Limitless Pathways is a nonprofit founded by a mother raising a child with CAMK2. Her challenges navigating an under-recognized disorder—limited awareness, misdiagnosis, and lack of coordinatedsupport—highlighted how many families experience similar struggles. The nonprofit supports individuals with special needs through independent-living retreats, caregiver coaching, educational initiatives, awareness efforts, and fundraising for CAMK2 research. CAMKalm™ is one of several projects within this mission.
Phase 2 — Early Detection and Bio-Signal Awareness (Exploratory)
Future development may explore whether wearable devices can identify early physiological signs of escalating stress. Examples include changes in heart rate, HRV, movement shifts, or autonomic patterns. These are conceptual examples and require technical and clinical evaluation. If feasible, CAMKalm™ may automatically trigger personalized cues, gently notify caregivers, or log patterns of activation. A low-stimulation crisis mode is envisioned for times of heightened distress.
Design Principles
CAMKalm™ is being designed to be simple, predictable, calming, and accessible. The interface will
minimize sensory load and remain usable during distress, with one- or two-step interactions.
Personalization is central so the tool can support a wide range of individuals and therapeutic
approaches.
